What is an interim CIO?

Also known as: Interim IT director, Interim Chief Information Officer

An interim CIO is an experienced Chief Information Officer who joins full time for a defined period to fill a sudden vacancy or lead a critical change, such as a merger, carve-out, turnaround or recovery after an incident.

Interim CIOs start at short notice, take decisions from day one and usually stay three to twelve months, handing over to a permanent successor.
