What is a fractional CIO?
Also known as: Part-time CIO, Fractional Chief Information Officer
A fractional CIO is an experienced Chief Information Officer who works for an organisation part time, typically one to three days a week, with the full mandate for IT strategy, budget, suppliers, security and the IT organisation.
Organisations choose a fractional CIO when they need senior technology leadership but not a full-time executive: a mid-sized company whose IT is outsourced, a growing organisation preparing its first CIO role, or a business facing NIS2, DORA or a major transformation.
